Teaching
Sarah currently teaches students privately in Northern New Jersey. Her lessons consist of guiding the student in healthy vocalization and working on various musical pieces. She believes that everyone has their own voice, and she works on cultivating that unique sound. In addition to training students to sing properly with a quality of tone, much of the lesson consists of working on material that is suited to each individual. In other words, although Sarah’s expertise is in jazz and improvisation, she understands that not all singers are interested in the genre.Sarah also is extremely experienced as a MUSIC PERFORMANCE CONSULTANT. She has taught instrumentalists and vocalists who are both soloists and/or band or orchestra members. As a graduate of Northwestern University’s Theatre Department, she is well versed in the importance of the musician and performance. Both the vocalist AND the instrumentalist owe themselves and their audience the joy of experiencing the music they are performing. This idea applies to all genres of music, whether it be jazz, classical, pop, rock, or folk.
